Feel Good Halloween Movies

You want to get in the spirit of Halloween, but whether it's for financial reasons or personal this year you're just having trouble.

You love Halloween movies, but scary movies... not so much.

Well here is a list of some feel good Halloween movies that will not only get you in the spirit of Halloween but put you in a pretty good mood too.

Casper - Casper is such a great Halloween movie. It's full of great laughs, and some really sweet moments. The movie is about a little ghost looking for love which he finds in Christina's Ricci's character Kat Harvey. He get's his houses newest resident's (whom are looking for treasure) to hire Kat's father played by Bill Pullman who is a paranormal expert. The movie then proceeds to make you laugh, make you smile, and most importantly get you in the mood for Halloween!

Corpse Bride- Tim Burton does it again! An excellent movie full of romance, adeventure, and good laughs. The movie is about a young man voiced by Johnny Depp who escapes a planned marriage only to fall in the undead arms of Helena Bonham Carter's character. The movie will be sure to get you in the Halloween spirit!

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown - I just adore this movie. It's one of those staple's that you have to watch when you're a kid. The movie follows Charlie Brown and his friends as they celebrate another Halloween. However, Lucy's brother, Linus celebrates Halloween a different way... by waiting for the "Great Pumpkin". It will be sure to make you want to put on a costume, and relive your childhood!

Ernest Scared Stupid - A great movie from the late Jim Varney. This movie is one those movies, you remember from your childhood that scared the crap out of you. But when you watch it again when you're older you don't understand how you could have ever been scared of it. The movie is about a Troll that wakes up, and starts to collect children by turning them into wooden figures. A young boy enlists the helps of the ever bumbleing Ernest to help him save his friends. A deff must see this Halloween season!

Hocus Pocus - Last but not least, my favorite Halloween movie ever, Hocus Pocus! Such a great movie, that brings such great, happy, Halloween memories for me. The movie is about 3 witches who awake from the dead, and are out for revenge by collecting the souls of children. Cannot say enough how much you need to see this movie. I make absolute sure I watch this movie every year.

Hopefully these movies help you get in the spirit. So start carving those pumpkins, bobbing for applees, and putting on those costumes!

Halloween Costumes: You Can Wear Again!

We all love Halloween. Whether it's the candy, the scary movies, or the carving of pumpkins for everyone Halloween brings a thrill of excitement. However, nothing is more fun then getting to dress up.

To quote one of my favorite movies, Mean Girls, "In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."

So you go out and buy this totally cute costume that's very expensive, and you get to wear it for one night and look totally hot but then what? I'll tell you what. Like previous costumes of mine, they end up in a trash bag in the basement.

So what is the solution? The solution is buy costumes that can not only look totally cute that one night, but can look cute on an everyday basis as well.

I've scoured the internet and I've compiled a list of costumes that you can wear again!

1. Hello Kitty - First up on my list of costumes is one of Hello Kitty. It's super cute for Halloween because not only is it girly but who doesn't like Hello Kitty? Not only that but the colors red and pink look good with all types of skin tones. So now the question is how to make it work in everyday life. Super easy on this one! First off you would just need to ditch the cat ears. Next the blouse itself is super cute. It would work well with jeans and cute little flats. Next while the skirt is a loud color it can totally work in everyday life. Dress it down with a dark blazer, white top, and neutral shoes. (Take a fashion risk!)

2. Grecian Goddess - Next up is this costume of the Grecian Goddess. A Halloween staple throughout the years. Who doesn't want to feel like a goddess for one night a year? Well how about feeling like a goddess more then one night a year! While this costume works for Halloween because not only is very flattering on all body types with the scoped neck, wide straps, empire waste, and flared sleeves. However, you can make this dress work for you again at another outing. All you would have to do is remove the flowing sleeves, and get rid of the extra fabric hanging on the side and VOILA. You have a cute summer dress.

3. The Air Force Officer - This is one badass costume. Not only will you feel sexy, but you will feel like a powerful woman! This is another costume that is super easy to make work in everyday life. I mean just look at the cute pencil skirt! It's a darker color so it will go well anything, and furthermore pencil skirts are very flattering and work appropriate. Next up would the blazer. I would keep the detail on the arms (I'm a sucker for military style!) but ditch the pocket flare. I love blazers because they can work with anything in your closet! And instantly dress up your favorite pair of jeans!

4. Sailor Girl - I think this dress is too cute for Halloween. I love old Hollywood style. This dress would be super fun to wear everyday. If your very bold and like to make a statement keep it as it is! The nautical style is in right now! However, if you are a little more modest with your fashion sense this dress would be easy to transform. Simply get rid of the tule in the skirt, and get rid of the sailor collar.

5. The Flapper - An American Icon, and you can literally find this costume anywhere! Flappers made a huge impression in the 20s and you can at your Halloween party. Have fun with the makeup on this one! And do I really have to say how to make this work in everyday life? I mean it's a LBD! (Little Black Dress). The way it's cut is super flattering, and it's fun to move in! Make it more everyday wearable by paring it with dark hose instead of fish nets.

6. Hippie - Too cute for Halloween. Flower child's are super fun to dress up as. Plus it's a costume that you can get ready in very quickly! The hair and makeup is minimal to bear none, plus look at her feet.... NO SHOES! No heels! Just get per-pedicure and your good to go! Now look at this costume. Take a away that vest and there is a really cute white, summer dress under there. Feeling the vest a little? I would suggest cutting away the tassels, and pairing it with a dark pair of jeans and a dark shirt. Let it be the staple of your outfit!

7. Jackie O - A style icon! This is a great costume because not only will you feel classy wearing it on Halloween you can totally wear this outfit again! The jacket and the skirt is too cute! Plus it's pink and it works well with all skin types! Just ditch the hat and gloves.

8.  Wednesday Adams - I love the Adams Family. To date one of my favorite movies ever, and I'm still a big fan of Christina Ricci. Anyway I know what you thinking. How in the heck can I make this work in everyday life? It's super low cut, and it shows off a lot of skin. Easy! Put a cami under the shirt so you don't show as much chest, and pair it with a high wasted skirt. Super stylish! And I would somehow find a way to make those tights work. I just love them!

9. The Stewardess - This is a sexy costume without being too sexy. It's a the perfect balance, and who hasn't dreamt of being apart of the mile high club? I would love to wear this out everyday! Simply get rid of the tie, and pin on the shirt, and of course get rid of the hooker boots. And whats left is a high wasted skirt and really cute top!

10. Gangster Girl - And last is the Gangster girl. A fun Halloween outfit because it's very cute, and kind of badass. Kind of like Jessica Rabbit except less boobs and not a red dress. You can totally make this outfit work! Of course get rid of the fish nets (except maybe save them for the bedroom ^.~), and get rid of the tie. Then I would cute off the straps and there you go! A really cute outfit. I would put a white, ruffly top underneath to give it more of a dressed up vibe. Plus I think you can totally make the hat work.

So Halloween is a blast! It's the one night of year where we can become someone else. So now don't fret about spending a fortune on a costume when you know you can wear it again!

Fall TV: What I'm Watching, and You Should Too!

Alas summer is over. There is now a chill in the air, and men everywhere are going crazy for football. And if you're a certified couch potoato like myself the end of summer brings no better excitement then fall tv!

Yes it's true. I'm a major tv buff.

So the question is what do you watch? What is good?

Well I'm here to give you a list of tv that you should watch, and shows that you can just skip.

First on my list of excellent TV is House.

Why I Watch It: I love house because it's a medical drama. I love anything medical. What I love about this show is that it balances the medical part of the show well with the drama aspect. The cases are always interesting, and some of them keep you on the edge of your seat all episode long. Furthermore Hugh Laurie, who portrays House, does such an excellent job of portraying the senical doctor. The character of House is such an asshole, but really you can't help but to just love him!
Why You Should Watch It: You should watch this show if you love mysteries, and if you have a dark sense of humor. Also this upcoming season should just be brilliant. Last time we saw House he ran his car into Cuddy's house, and now he is in prision. So I'm looking forward to see how he is still going to solve medcial cases while being in prision.

Bones

Why I Watch It: I love this show! Really this show is the perfect show for me. Not only does it have medical side, but that medical side is the skeletal system. (For those of you that don't know me personally part of my degree majorally deals with the skeletal system). Also this show is a romance! I love every single character on this show. The main girl "Bones" is a forensic anthropologist. She is extremely intelligent, and has a very dry sense of humor. Then there is Booth. He is a FBI agent that helps Bones solves medical mysteries. The chemistry these two characters have are just fantastic! Also the supporting cast are just excellent.
Why You Should Watch It: You should watch this show if you love romance, and like a good mystery. On the last season of Bones (SPOILER ALERT!) we found out the Bones is pregnant with Booth's baby. So I'm very curious to see if they are finally going to get together or not. There is always a lot of action, comedy, and romance and this show will clearly keep your attention all episode long.

Modern Family

Why I Watch It: Modern Family is such a great comedy. It's so smart in everything that it does. The cast is just brilliant. I love to watch it because it's just so gosh darn funny! Every episode makes me laugh out loud, and not a single episode to date has disappointed.
Why You Should Watch It: You should watch this show if you love comedy! This show will never disappoint you, and will always make you literally "LOL".

Glee

Why I Watch It: Glee is such a great show! Not only is it a comedy, but it's full of great music! It's a great feel good show about underdogs that rise to the top.
Why You Should Watch it: You should watch this show if you love musicals and comedies. It does a great job of balanceing drama, comedy, and romance all in one show! The show also does a great job of taking old, outdated songs, and putting a really interesting twists on them.

Community

Why I Watch It: I'll admit. When I first saw this show I didn't think it was going to go anywhere. I mean a show about a community college? Yeah, brought back some nightmares of my own. But I decided to give this show a chance and now I love it! It's so funny and very clever. It's really found it's stride. It's a show that has a deffinate voice, and it's a voice I want to listen to.
Why You Should Watch It: You should watch this show if you love comedies. It also has hints of romance with lots of sarcasm.

The Office

Why I Watch It: First off I know I have an old picture but I could find any for the new season. Anyway! I think this show is just brilliant. It's a mockumentary type of show that breaks down the 4th wall. The characters talk straight into the camera bringing you and involveing you into every episode. The comedy is also so very clever, and the situation they get themselves into are just fantastic! Plus the main romance between Jim and Pam is just wonderful. Sometimes I forget that they are actors and are not married in real life!
Why You Should Watch It: You should watch this show if you love comedy, and if you are just in the mood for a feel good, funny show. You will fall in the love the with characters, and while some situations will make you squirm in your seat it's well worth it!

So I will leave my list at that. But I think I've given you all some great shows to get you started. Some other honorable mentions that I would like to include would be the new shows: Terra Nova, Up All Night, and The New Girl. The reason why I chose not to include them quite yet is because of how new they are. However, from what I've seen so far they look like they are going to be great shows!

Now the shows that I think you can just skip.

2 Broke Girls

Why: So when I first heard about this show I was super excited! I love the actress Kat Dennings. She has been in a lot of my favorite movies. So when I heard she was coming to tv I was just thrilled. However, after watching the first episode of 2 Broke Girls I'm just very disappointed. I didn't laugh once all episode. The comedy is just dry and not funny at all. The characters are not believeable, and sad to say but the acting is just awful! Plus it's poorly written. I could go on and on how much I disliked it. True I've only seen one episode, but the first one left such a bad taste in my mouth I doubt I'm coming back for another episode.

Whitney

Why: This show was heavily promoted, and had a lot of hype going into the fall season. Plus the fact that NBC put it on Thursday night which has two of my favorite shows mentioned above (Office, Community) I was super excited for it! However, I was very disappointed. The acting was awful, and the characters were not believable at all. This is truely a show that you can skip over and forget about.

There are so some new shows that I have not watched yet, and I would love to hear what you think about them! What did you think about: Hart of Dixie, The Playboy Club, Last Man Standing, Man Up, Unforgettable, Ringer, Suburgatory, Revenge, I Hate my Teenage Daughter, Free Agents, Charlie's Angels, and The Secret Circle.

Also did I miss some shows that should have been mentioned? Feel free to comment or send me an e-mail at: girltips4u@yahoo.com

Bitchy Boss: How to Deal

We've all had that job that we just hated. Whether it was the tacky uniform, the rude customers, or the catty girls. However, there is one thing I'm sure most of you have gone through (or are currently going through right now) and that is the bitchy boss. It's the way she talks to you, looks at you, and just makes you feel. Most of the time she is going to be older then you, and use that against you.

Let's face it. If you're a young attractive girl women superiors are just not going to like you. Especially if they are much older then you. Because while their breast are sagging, and body hair is starting to sprout in inappropriate places it's the opposite for you! And they will hate you for it.

So the question is. Just how do you deal with these bitchy bosses?

Fist off, don't ever change the way you look just for a job. Don't feel like you have dress frumpy or not wear makeup in order to get accepted. It's still not going to work. Because all that is going to do is make you look vulnerable, and let her know that she is winning. Plus it will make you feel really bad about yourself, and you won't be nearly as confident. Confidence is the key. If you act like you know what your doing, and if you dress and look appropriate you will get recognized for it. While you might have to deal with catty women along the way it will be worth it in the end.

Another great tip is to just kill her with kindness. Every time she is rude to you or says something very catty just stay overly sweet and kind. She will hate it! Not only will it make you look classy it will make her feel immature.

Also just try to get to know her. Who knows maybe something is going on at home. Or maybe she feels that you might be in the running to take her job. You never know until you talk to them.

Also a subcategory that I should mention is work cliques. Yes I know we thought we ditched those in high school but sadly they still survive. We all know who these girls are. They hang out together at work and outside of work and just "conveniently" forget to invite you. Ugh. So instead of saying (like we really want to) "I didn't want to go shopping you all anyway. You're just going to buy more whoreish looking boots to wear to work." Nope. Instead the best policy is just to be polite, and then if there comes a time when they do ask you to hang out reject them by saying "I really wish I could go, but I have somewhere I really need to be."

Plus while they are gossiping you can be getting more work done, and then when they are running behind because of deadline issues you will already be done. You will look good and get that promotion while they won't. Then as a treat to yourself go out and buy yourself some fashionable boots to wear to work.

All in all work can suck. You have days where all you want to do is go home and buy some Ben and Jerry's and watch Titanic. Not going to lie those days are still going to happen, espeacially if you have a boss that sucks. But I hope some of these tips have helped you.
